Biography of Zest

Franck Noto, better known under the pseudonym Zest, is a French artist who was born in Montpellier. Raised in a family that appreciated painting, he discovered the art of graffiti and tags in 1995, around age 15, and immediately fell in love with it. Now an abstract painter, his style remains very urban. Zest’s work synthesises his various influences, comprising key elements that recur throughout his work: bright fluorescent colours and women’s bodies. Sensual feminine curves contrast with the cubism of the shapes and letters that get lost in a visual labyrinth, where suggestion is more powerful than depiction. Zest revisits the classic codes of graffiti, breaking away from conventions and pre-established rules. He mixes styles and techniques, using brushes as well as spray cans, markers, and paint rollers.

Zest has now taken on a new challenge: that of completely immersing spectators in his work.

Indeed, it’s by placing his iconic mark on the steps of the Lyon stadium that the artist creates a direct link between urban art and the public, whose emotions are represented by a gradient of bright colours. Taking the light as inspiration, Zest imbues each step with positive energy that is immediately transmitted to fans during each event.
