Biography of Mantra

Mantra is a young self-taught painter who was born in 1987. During his childhood, Mantra discovered as many landscapes in the city as he did in the countryside. A city dweller at heart, he remains irrevocably drawn to nature, and particularly his animals (butterflies and owls). His paintings depict them in a style that is realistic and completely alive. He tries to return this nature he loves so much to its rightful place in the city, by painting his animals on walls in the streets. Mantra has developed an artistic process that allows him to repeat his motifs while changing the scale. He is part of the street art scene, and he attracted attention for his incredible speed and large-scale works. His reputation now extends beyond France, and his works adorn the walls of streets in Vienna, Brussels, New York, Seattle, Quito, and Bogotá.

« Number 7 »

This work consists of seven butterflies in an entomologist’s box. This project seeks to transform the space and provide a new perception of this passageway. It plays with the proportions of the frame, giving the illusion that it is attached to the wall, conveying a sense of calm and piquing the public’s curiosity.

« JORJE »

This work, created at the entrance to block 120, depicts a man with a very serene expression. It was originally created from a photograph of Jorge, a security agent in Colombia who was born in Armenia. This work spotlights an anonymous human being with a unique identity, who peacefully stands guard over the space.
